Catholic radio has had a remarkable effect in this country in the few short years it has been in existence. Numerous conversions and reversions to the Church have occurred. The faith of an untold number of Catholics has been strengthened and deepened in a profound way.
Below are just a few examples of the correspondence which Catholic-programmed stations have received, and continue to receive, on a regular basis.
“It is the best thing that ever happened to us in the whole area as far as evangelization. It is a miracle from God. …Someone said he has several non-Catholics friends who have listened to it. Two fallen away Catholics listen to it and have come back to the church.” –Msgr. Lawrence Moran, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish, Terre Haute, Indiana where station WHOJ FM 91.9 is headquartered.
“I am a Baptist Preacher and I did not know that Catholics studied or preached the Word of God until my wife and I started listening to KJBC. We have been so inspired at what we have heard it has given us a great hunger to know more. The Center has provided many materials that have helped us understand the Catholic faith better. KJBC is the only station I listen to now, and it has led us to join RCIA.” -- B.G., Listener to KJBC, TX
Two death row inmates are looking into the Catholic faith because of listening to WQOP-FM. They have also started a study group based on WQOP's programs. –From WQOP-FM in Birmingham, AL
"This radio station was there when I needed to hear those words that started my road back to my faith. I pray that you will continue on the air, because you are reaching a lot of lost Catholics, like me." C.O., Listener to KWG 1230 AM, Stockton, CA
"I am recovering from temporary blindness and for three weeks had to be in a darkened room. You have no idea what a comfort to me your broadcasts were during this period.” Genya L., Listener to Immaculate Heart Radio, Sacramento, CA
One person having financial, business, and family problems was listening to the radio in the small hours of the morning and states that she was consoled by a program and prevented from committing suicide. –From Galilee Radio, Breckenridge, TX (A very small station on the air for less than a year.)
Two Suicides were prevented through KBVM. Two people sent letters saying that what they heard was so beautiful, they couldn’t go through with killing themselves. One person heard the Spanish Rosary and said it was so beautiful he couldn’t commit suicide. –From KBVM, Portland, OR
Stories of conversion and testimony, such as those above, continue to grow. By God’s grace and Our Lady’s intercession and protection, Catholic radio will continue to spread throughout the nation, touching ever more souls with the message of Christ’s love and salvation.
